Description
The Emerson Flow Control (Alco) 057456 1-Ton Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is a refrigerant control valve for refrigeration and cooling systems using R502 refrigerant. This valve has built-in 3/8” and 1/2” connections, which make it serve an essential purpose of controlling refrigerant flow to the evaporator coil. TXVs prefer to work based on thermal expansion, which is the temperature of refrigerant leaving the evaporator. The temperature change is sensed by a bulb usually fitted at the evaporator outlet which communicates the change to the internal mechanism of the valve. When the temperature of refrigerant rises, the bulb inside the meter fills with the fluid and the pressure inside the valve rises and opens it.
