The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100210066 is a Magnesium Anode Rod 19” rod with a 5.5” nipple used to prevent corrosion of water heaters. How it does this is by drawing corrosive materials in the water to itself, thus, effectively saving the water heater’s tank. This anode rod is mainly applied in residential and commercial water heaters. The magnesium composition provides better protection than the aluminum and thus the tank will last longer.
