International Comfort Products 1173835 5-Ton Bi-Flow Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is an HVAC system component suitable for R-22 refrigerant used in most air conditioners and heat pump systems. This valve controls refrigerant flow when the system is cooling and when the system is heating, for efficiency. It regulates the amount of refrigerant that enters the evaporator so as to achieve the right heat transfer, enhance energy use and avoid cases of coil frosting or overheating. The bi-flow design also facilitates easy operation in both directions and increases the life of the equipment and comfort.
