Description
The Emerson Flow Control (Alco) 056818 8-ton capacity, externally equalized expansion valve is used to control the amount of refrigerant in the HVAC systems. This valve has a 5-foot capillary tube and 1/2” x 7/8” ODF fitting and is intended for use with R22 refrigerant. Valves such as the 056818 that are externally equalized have the most importance when it comes to the efficiency of air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. These work through measures of pressure towards the outlet end of the evaporator to control the flow of refrigerant accordingly. This external equalization offsets pressure drops across the evaporator coil so that the refrigerant is well distributed.
